i. i leave notes like pieces of a map to find me at every restaurant i go. hello and thank you and the food was good and perhaps a hastily drawn sketch. i haven't painted in awhile and i was never good at art like my grandpa, but something is better than nothing. in the end, they'll stick somewhere, whether in memory or the bottom of a cup. it's better to be kind. you don't know what the day was like.

I know these are your personal feelings, etc. but there are a lot of simple truths in them. Hannah, you have a talent at revealing the plain truth of life with your prose. Most poets seem to imagine things into the world that is, as if to improve upon what is. You see the world that is, in all its bitterness and beauty, and rather than wincing you embrace it. I really love that about you. You have the courage to accept whatever the Lord sees fit to give and call it what it is: good, beautiful. You may not know that about you... but I'm sure it's true. <3
